Lambda Literary nurtures and advocates for LGBTQ writers, elevating the impact of their words to create community, preserve our legacies, and affirm the value of our stories and our lives.
The Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices was established in 2007 and is the first of its kind ever offered to LGBTQIA+ writers—a one-week intensive immersion in fiction, nonfiction, playwriting, poetry, and young adult fiction, as well as the most recent addition: screenwriting. The Writer's Retreat is an unparalleled opportunity for LGBTQIA+ writers to be mentored by the very best literary artists in our community, develop craft, make connections with publishing industry professionals, and build a strong community of peers.
The 2022 Writer's Retreat will be held virtually (not in-person).
Applications to attend the 2022 Writer's Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices opened on November 29, 2021 and close at 5:00 pm ET on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. You may apply to more than one workshop, however, each application must be submitted separately and requires an additional fee. The application fee for each application is $25.00.
